NEW FORKLIFT TECHNOLOGY
Warren, Michigan, April 27, 2018
- Central Transport, LLC, one of the nation’s most technologically advanced less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers, announces forklift scale technology advancements.
As of July 31st, 2018 Central Transport will have 729 Rice Lake scales installed on fully electric Hyster Yale forklifts. The forklifts will be used at the 33 Break Facilities and Next Day Hubs – responsible for processing 100% of freight volumes. The significant investment made in the scaled lifts will yield three major benefits.
Foremost, the scaled lifts will significantly reduce dock processing time. Shipments will be weighed as they are lifted; meaning travelling to a stationary scale is completely eliminated. This enables terminals to process more freight faster, ensuring gains in cut time compliance, and ultimately improving transit times.
Secondly, as use of the scaled lifts reduces dock travel time, shipments are touched and moved less, reducing the rates of damage and ultimately, claims.
Lastly, scaled lifts have a higher degree of calibration accuracy. By eliminating the need for manual calibration, the number of Weights/Inspections errors is significantly reduced, in turn decreasing the time customers need to audit, monitor, and request invoice correction.
These continued investments and improvements to facilities, and network realignment is just part of our dedication to provide quality services to our customers, and to be a top tier LTL provider for the United States and Canada.
